9:00 Kids Church response

“Worship God, not cows!”

Don’t get in the way!

When God wants something done, it’s going to get done no matter how much some people try to get in the way.  We’re reading in Acts about how God wanted to spread the good news about Jesus to everyone and in this passage we see some very powerful people trying to get in the way.

The disciples would have been in no trouble with the law if they had just kept quiet about Jesus, but they knew that God had told them to speak the good news to everyone, and they knew better than to get in the way of what God wanted.  The high priest had them arrested for doing what God wanted them to do, but the prison couldn’t stop God.  God freed them from prison and told them to go right back to the temple and keep telling people about Jesus.

If you’re following God’s word as you live your life and you’re doing what God wants you to do, don’t let other things get in the way, because God will just knock them aside so that you can continue doing what God wants.  If you’re not doing what God wants you to do, that means you’re getting in the way just like the high priest and his followers.  We don’t want God to knock us off to the side, we want to be a part of what He’s doing.  So, don’t get in the way!

Little and Faithful

I remember when I was little, I always wished for BIGGER and MORE.  I wanted a BIGGER bicycle, MORE desert after dinner, a BIGGER allowance, MORE video games.  Sometimes it’s better for us to start small when we’re small.  In our Bible reading we see Joseph starting out being in charge of a home, then being in charge of a prison, and finally being in charge of a whole nation.  Because he was faithful each time, God was with him and blessed him in everything he did.

I know you don’t want to be little forever, but while you are little, practice being faithful.  Practice doing your chores well.  Practice finishing your homework each day.  Practice tithing each week even though your allowance might be small.  You will find happyness when God blesses you in the little things and you will be ready for the BIG things that are coming your way soon!

“That’s impossible!”

Think about something that you’ve been trying to do for a long time…but you just can’t do it. Maybe you’re trying to finish your math homework and you can’t figure out how to add fractions. Maybe you tried being nice to someone at school and they were still mean back to you. You might think that it’s impossible.

But look what the Angel says to Mary in Luke 1:37. “For nothing will be impossible with God.” The great thing about living our lives with God is that with him helping us and leading us, nothing is impossible. Remember what the angel said to Mary the next time you think something is impossible!
